I’ve been an active amateur photographer for the past 20 years. I began with a passion for street photography and photojournalism, and gradually moved more towards art photography. I have great admiration for photographers such as James Nachtwey, Philip Jones Griffiths, Stephen Shore, and Henri Cartier-Bresson among others, and I believe photography is an extremely important medium for fomenting positive social change.

Street / Architecture
Most of my street and architectural photos were taken in Thailand in and around Bangkok and Samut Sakhon. A number were also taken in China during my time working at the University of Nottingham, Ningbo.

Photojournalism
My photojournalism work was carried out in Bangkok, Thailand during the period of pro and anti-government mass demonstrations between 2006 and 2014. It was on the one hand an exciting time and on the other very disturbing. The violence I witnessed then has certainly stayed with me.
Art
I engaged in art photography first in Bangkok and, when I returned to Ireland, in Cork and Kenmare. Much of the work in based on juxtaposition and the triptych is a major form experimented with.
